Questioning

If I could go back in time 200 years, which group of Native Americans would I like to live with?

Planning

To answer your question, you will need to decide what living conditions are important to you, and then learn about the living conditions of the Native American groups.

Which living conditions are important to you?

Use your notes sheet to gather information on living conditions for all four regions.

Gathering

Use books, World Book, videos and the links below to gather your information.

General Native American Culture Sites

NW Coast Native American Sites

Historic NW coast native settings in the art of Gordon Miller and Bill Holm.

Learn about the daily life of NW Coast Indians including meals, chores, longhouses, and more.

note - when using World Book, search for the keywords Indian, American. Then click on the Article Outline button. Click on living conditions in the outline to jump to that part of the article. You will have to read carefully - information on all tribes may be found in the same paragraph.

Sorting/Sifting

What were you looking for in a place to live? Keep this information in mind and look at the notes you have gathered.

Read all of your notes. As you read them...

Synthesizing

Sit in a place where you and your partner can both see your notes and each other. Review your information together and decide:

Which group of Native Americans would you like to live with? Which group best fits the living conditions that you feel are important?

After you've discussed your information and come to an agreement, fill out the Synthesizing form.

Evaluating

Reporting

You and your group will create a PowerPoint presentation to share your research and decision.
