Special Activities

Sasquatch Reading Club for 4th & 5th graders

Fourth and fifth graders at Carl Cozier are invited to join our Sasquatch Reading Club! The club meets during the winter months (usually January - March) during lunch in the library. Fourth graders read all of the Sasquatch Book Award nominees. Fifth graders read all of the Sasquatch Book Award nominees AND all of the Young Reader's Choice Award nominees. Students have the option of participating in the city-wide Sasquatch Super Bowl in the spring.

5th Grade Family Book Club

Created especially for 5th graders and a "special adult," this club aims to provide that wonderful experience of parent and child reading a book together. Watch this space for the announcement of our first book for the 2009 -2010 school year. A special grant from the Bellingham Schools Foundation provided multiple copies of the selected titles for each of the schools in the project. The club meets 4 times during the school year at the Bellingham Public Library to discuss the selections and enjoy snacks together. The book club is facilitated by Denisa Anderson, Roosevlet Elementary, Susan Feemster, Birchwood Elementary, Analisa Ficklin, Larrabee Elementary, and Mariann Strachan, Carl Cozier Elementary.

5th Grade Library Helpers

Fifth grade students at Carl Cozier work as library helpers to maintain our book collection. They also work as tech tutors with some of our younger students, assisting in the computer lab during primary classes. If you are a 5th grader and would like to be a library volunteer, stop in and pick up an application from Mrs. Strachan or Mrs. Denton
